Introduction

The DVLA is an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport (DfT), based in Swansea, employing approximately 6,000 people on a hybrid working model. DVLA Digital is tasked with helping DVLA achieve its strategic ambitions and, is committed to digital transformation and developing new agile technologies and service platforms to meet changing customer expectations, employee needs and future technology evolution.

  • To achieve DVLA’s strategic goals, DVLA Digital needs the right people to develop, deliver, and support its digital service. However, it has struggled to attract the right talent, facing many obstacles, including a smaller pool of local talent within commutable distance of Swansea and negative external perceptions centred on tech stack, culture, and career opportunities.

  • Inspired produced a Job Brochure as part of an overall recruitment marketing strategy, embedding a new EVP video (produced by Inspired) to showcase DVLA’s mission, values, culture, tech stack, diversity and inclusion, and learning and development opportunities to potential candidates. Additionally, we created impactful social media assets to support the recruitment campaign.

  • DVLA sought to partner with a consultancy that could provide added value/innovation for specifically recruiting external candidates for difficult to fill roles. Inspired delivered a professionally produced EVP Video shot on site in Swansea to target and communicate DVLA’s Employee Value Proposition and a bespoke Candidate Job Brochure easily customisable for each Digital, Data and Technology vacancy to reinforce DVLA’s brand, values, culture, and EVP Video. DVLA’s recruitment team use both these EVP and recruitment marketing assets in direct sourcing of talent both online and in person at career fairs.
